  • 1 ounce of Valerian (root)
  • 1 1/2 liters of Water

Valerian root tea, with its calming effect on the nervous system, can help to relieve anxiety, stress, and sleep disorders. It can also reduce the symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes.

  1. Fill a small saucepan with water and place the valerian root inside. Place on the stove at mid-low fire until it begins simmering.(10 minutes)
  2. As soon as it reaches a rolling boil, lower the fire to a minimum and leave to simmer slowly for 30 more minutes, until the water has reduced to a third or half of its original volume.(30 minutes)
  3. Remove from the fire and serve. Add honey to taste if the flavor is found exceedingly disagreeable.(2 minutes)

Drink in ¼-cup servings throughout the day, ensuring they don't add up to more than three cups per day. This tea can be refrigerated for up to four days, but it should not be left at room temperature too long.
