  • 1-1.5 cup

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/2 cup of white sugar

Directions

This homemade syrup takes advantage of tamarind's laxative properties to stimulate the intestines and promote smooth bowel movements. It will effectively relieve constipation and help you enjoy regular digestion once and for all.

  1. Remove the outer shells from the tamarind pods.(1 minute)
  2. Pour the water into a saucepan, add the tamarind pods, and boil them for 30 minutes.(30 minutes)
  3. Strain the mixture, reserving the liquid. Then add in the sugar and cook the liquid until it thickens to the desired consistency.(10 minutes)
  4. Let it cool before transferring to a glass bottle.(4 minutes)

Store this tamarind syrup in the refrigerator. Whenever passing stool becomes a problem, take half a tablespoon every half an hour (without exceeding 1.5 tablespoons per day). This laxative should not be used long-term in order to avoid dependency.
