  • 2 teaspoons of instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar (+ 3 TBS for the topping)
  • 7 tablespoons of whole milk
  • 1 egg (+ 2 yokes)
  • 5 tablespoons of butter (at room temp. + 3 TBS cold butter for the topping)

Directions

Treat yourself to the ultimate weekend dessert with fluffy and tender buns. The delightful contrast between the juicy strawberries and the crispy topping creates a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Whether enjoyed with a cup of coffee or as an after-dinner treat, these buns will leave you craving more.

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour (2.5 cups) and instant yeast.(2 minutes)
  2. Add in the rest of the ingredients: sugar (2 tablespoons), butter (5 tablespoons), milk, and eggs. Mix until a smooth, sticky dough forms. If the dough seems too liquidy, add 2 additional tablespoons of flour. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and set it aside to rise for 1.5 hours.(90 minutes)
  3. Divide the dough into 9 parts. Roll each part into a ball and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Dip a small glass in a little bit of flour to prevent sticking and gently press it into the center of each bun to create a slight indentation.(5 minutes)
  4. To make the topping, mix cold butter (3 tablespoons), brown sugar (3 tablespoons), and flour (4 tablespoons) together in a bowl until crumbles form. Divide the topping among all buns.(5 minutes)
  5. Bake at 340°F (170°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Let the buns cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar (optional). Enjoy!
