  • 4 minutes
  • About 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup of licorice (root, chopped)
  • 1 cup of echinacea (leaves, chopped)
  • 2 cups of vodka (or enough to submerge the herbs)

Directions

Those who have had mouth ulcers, or canker sores, know how painful they can be. Fortunately, this topical tincture is known for its healing power. Echinacea is an immune booster that fights bacteria, while licorice root reduces inflammation. Along with alcohol, which has natural antiseptic properties, this herbal tincture for mouth ulcers will quickly alleviate the pain and speed up the healing process.

  1. Place chopped herbs in a jar and pour vodka over them until they are submerged.(1 minute)
  2. Put the lid on and store the jar in a warm, dry place for four to six weeks, shaking occasionally.
  3. When the tincture is ready, strain out the mixture, reserving the liquid and discarding the herbs. Transfer the tincture to a dark glass bottle, preferably with a dropper.(3 minutes)

Using a clean finger, apply about two drops of this licorice echinacea tincture directly to the sores three times daily until they heal. It can be stored in a cool, dark place for a year or more.
