  • 2 Lemon (juice)
  • 1/2 cup of Flax
  • 1 cup of Alfalfa (sprouts)
  • 2 teaspoons of Boldo
  • 2 teaspoons of Maple Syrup (or honey or agave)
  • 1/2 pound of Barley (toasted)
  • 1 Horsetail (branch)


The adrenal glands, located right atop the kidneys, play an important role in managing your cortisol - the stress hormone - levels, which in turn affects many different functions.

This tea combines an influx of vitamins and minerals from alfalfa with the cleansing power of boldo, to help boost kidney and adrenal function. With additional help from brain-boosting horsetail and mood balancing flax this tea is super effective, this blended morning drink turns into an well-rounded energizer. 

  1. Bring water to a boil.
  2. Add horsetail, boldo, flax, barley, and alfalfa and reduce heat to very low.
  3. Simmer(1 hour)
  4. Remove from heat, strain out herbs and discard, reserve the liquid.
  5. Flavor with juice of two lemons and sweeten with maple syrup, honey, or agave to taste. Serve while still warm or tepid.

Take a cup (or two, or three) each morning with breakfast, either as a coffee substitute, or mixed with oatmeal or quinoa.
