  • 1 cup of Water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of Psyllium (seeds, not husks)

Directions

With up to 70% of its content consist of soluble fiber, psyllium is a great ally in fighting constipation. Once it gets through the large intestine, it transforms into a mucilaginous gel and increases its volume 10-fold, bulking the stools and stimulating their elimination.

  1. Pour the water in a small bowl.
  2. Add the psyllium seeds in the morning and let them soak for 10 hours.
  3. Drink the water with the psyllium seeds at night in one dose.

Depending on the severity of constipation, it may be necessary to repeat the treatment for two or three days. It is also worth keeping in mind that consuming too much fiber can cause diarrhea. As such, caution is recommended.
