  • Ground cayenne pepper
    Ground cayenne pepper
  • Ginger (fresh, grated; 1-inch piece)
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of honey (preferably Manuka)
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper

Directions

This throat gargle is a natural remedy worth keeping in mind in the upcoming winter months. Ginger has anti-inflammatory compounds that can soothe a sore throat, while lemon contains vitamin C that helps the body stave off sickness. Cayenne, on the other hand, is capable of reducing inflammation, similarly to honey, which is known for its antiseptic, antimicrobial, and soothing properties.

  1. Warm up the water enough to dissolve the honey. Then add the rest of the ingredients and give it a good mix. Set aside for five minutes.(5 minutes)
  2. Strain the liquid and transfer it to a cup before use.(1 minute)

Gargle this mixture twice a day or more if desired. Consider omitting cayenne pepper if painful, open ulcers are present in the mouth.
