  • 1/2 cup of HerbaZest Sacha Inchi Seeds
  • 2 cups of basil (fresh)
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 3 tablespoons of nutritional yeast
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice


In this homemade pesto recipe, sacha inchi replaces the pine nuts, bringing a wide array of essential nutrients to the table. These South American seeds contain all essential amino acids, which are not produced in the human and have to be supplied from food. As such, they are a valuable source of protein for maintaining and building muscle mass. Sacha inchi seeds also are rich in omega-3, -6, and -9 fatty acids needed for cardiovascular health. Paired with aromatic basil and garlic, this homemade pesto with sacha inchi seeds is a delicious idea for a healthy dinner.

  1. Place all of the ingredients, except for the sacha inchi seeds, in a food processor and process until creamy.(2 minutes)
  2. Then add the sacha inchi seeds and pulse until they are coarsely chopped.(1 minute)
  3. Serve with pasta of choice!
