  • 1 cup of Quinoa
  • 3 tablespoons of HerbaZest Cacao Powder
  • 2 cups of Almond milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Vanilla extract
  • Salt (a pinch)
  • 2 tablespoons of Maple Syrup (or to taste)

Directions

This wholesome, lightly sweetened chocolate quinoa is a delicious way to start your day. Quinoa offers decent amounts of complete protein, complex carbs, and micronutrients, keeping you full for longer. Cacao, on the other hand, will fill you with antioxidants, tryptophan, and theobromine to help you tackle your day with energy and good mood.

  1. Place the quinoa and almond milk in a saucepan and bring it to a boil.(5 minutes)
  2. Then reduce the heat to low, put the lid on, and cook it until it quinoa is tender and the milk is absorbed.(10 minutes)
  3. Take the saucepan off the stove and stir in the rest of the ingredients.(2 minutes)
  4. Transfer to bowls and garnish with your favorite toppings. Enjoy warm!

If you want to make your chocolate quinoa even more nutritious, garnish it with some chia seeds or hemp hearts. Great fruit toppings include bananas and raspberries.
