Honey & Fig Amaranth Flake Porridge

  • 1 cup of HerbaZest Amaranth Flakes
  • 1/3 cup of whole milk (or non-dairy)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of chia seeds (for garnish)
  • 1 fig (or more; for garnish)
  • Honey (or maple syrup for drizzling)


Even though this soft and creamy porridge is made with just a couple of ingredients, it is packed with nutrients and has a lovely flavor that goes well with honey and fresh figs. Thanks to the delicate texture of flaked amaranth, this breakfast porridge will be on your table within minutes.

  1. In a saucepan, add the milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon, and bring it to a boil.(3 minutes)
  2. Stir in the amaranth flakes, cook for two minutes, take off heat, and let stand for three minutes.(5 minutes)
  3. Transfer to a bowl, garnish with fig slices, sprinkle with chia seeds, and drizzle with honey (or maple syrup). Enjoy right away!
