If you're looking for a healthy way to elevate your meals, you'll love this easy pickled red onion recipe. It only calls for five ingredients and a couple of hours in the fridge. Soaked in the vinegar sugar mixture, the onions become sweet, tangy, and tender. They'll also add a pleasant crunch to your dishes.

  1. Place the onions in a 32-ounce jar (or two 16-ounce jars). Set aside.(2 minutes)
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the vinegar, water, salt, and sugar until everything is dissolved. Then cool the mixture for a minute or two and pour it over the onions. Set aside to cool, then place it in the fridge for at least two hours or overnight. When they are bright pink, they are ready to eat.(2 hours)

These pickled red onions are great on burgers, tacos, sandwiches, and more! They will keep for about two weeks when stored in the fridge.

If you want to give these pickled onions even more flavor, pickle them with a few peppercorns and garlic cloves.
