Quinoa Pasta

Quinoa is an incredibly versatile pseudo-grain that has been cultivated in the Andean region of South America for millennia. Only in recent years has quinoa become popular in other parts of the world as a result of its unique nutritional value. This newfound popularity has resulted in an explosion of quinoa products, including quinoa pasta.

What Is Quinoa Pasta?

When quinoa seeds are ground and processed, they can be transformed into quinoa pasta, which is like regular pasta, just using quinoa flour instead of traditional wheat flour.

Some brands may also add other flours - such as rice or corn flour - to their quinoa pasta so caution is advised in order to avoid potential allergens.

QUINOA PASTA EXHIBITS MANY OF THE QUALITIES OF QUINOA, INCLUDING ITS SLIGHTLY NUTTY TASTE AND HIGH NUTRITIONAL VALUE.

What to Do with Quinoa Pasta

Quinoa pasta can be cooked and consumed much like any other pasta. However, it should be noted that homemade pasta has a shorter cooking time than store-bought, dried pasta.

Once cooked, serve quinoa pasta with your favorite sauce, add it to salads, or use it to make lasagna. It resembles whole-wheat pasta, but has a nuttier flavor.

Quinoa Pasta Nutrition

Quinoa pasta's nutrition and health benefits are much the same as quinoa seeds because it is made from quinoa flour. As such, quinoa pasta is a good source of complete protein, dietary fiber, unsaturated fats, vitamins, and minerals. However, one should note that when cooked, many of the vitamins and minerals in quinoa pasta may degrade.

Quinoa's protein has a rate of absorption (biological value) of 73%, which is very high when compared to that of beef (74%). In comparison to quinoa, the protein in wheat has a biological value of 49%.1

QUINOA PASTA IS A GREAT SOURCE OF COMPLETE PROTEIN.

Additionally, unlike grain-based pasta, quinoa pasta is gluten-free and, therefore, can be safely consumed by people with celiac disease and gluten intolerance.

Where to Buy Quinoa Pasta

Nowadays, quinoa pasta is widely available at most supermarkets and natural food stores. It can also be purchased online.

Quinoa pasta is a more nutritious option when compared to traditional wheat-based pasta. Being gluten-free and rich in complete protein, quinoa pasta is an attractive addition to your wholesome pantry.
