  • 13 minutes
  • About 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of honey (or to taste)
  • 4 cups of water
  • Thyme (2 fresh bunches)

Directions

This powerful herbal syrup only takes a few minutes to make and puts thyme's expectorant and antispasmodic properties to good use. It will soothe the pain of coughs, ease congestion, and fight bacteria, helping you get over your cold sooner.

  1. In a saucepan, combine the thyme and water over very low heat. Keep the lid of the pan slightly open to allow steam to escape, and simmer gently until the liquid is reduced by half.(10 minutes)
  2. Strain the mixture, reserving the liquid. Stir in the honey until well combined. Transfer to a glass bottle and store it in the fridge.(3 minutes)

Consume one teaspoon of this syrup every couple of hours until the cold or cough subsides. It can be stored in an airtight jar in the refrigerator, where it will keep for up to five weeks.
