Red patches of inflamed skin and dryness are all too familiar to those suffering from psoriasis or other skin conditions. They also know how difficult it is to find a remedy that works. Luckily, this homemade psoriasis salve is all about soothing the skin and offering gentle relief.

The soothing effects of neem oil for psoriasis are thanks to its antibacterial, analgesic, and moisturizing abilities. Coconut oil and shea butter, on the other hand, work to retain skin's natural moisture, thus preventing dryness and itchiness. This psoriasis salve is also infused with two powerful essential oils derived from lavender and tea tree, which have been found to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain. They can also promote relaxation and relieve stress, a well-known psoriasis episodes trigger.

  1. Create a double boiler. Place all of the ingredients in a bowl (except for the lavender and tea tree essential oils) and melt them.(5 minutes)
  2. Remove from heat, stir in the essential oils, and mix well. Transfer to an air-tight container and set aside to solidify.(1 minute)
  3. When cool, put the lid on and store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.

Apply to clean, dry skin several times a day or as needed.
