Valerian Root Anti-Insomnia Tea

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce of valerian (root)
  • 6 cups of water

Directions

This valerian tea will have calming effects on the nervous system, helping relieve anxiety and stress and improve sleep quality. As an added benefit for menopausal women, it can gently alleviate symptoms of mid-life transition, including hot flashes and night sweats. 

  1. Fill a small saucepan with water and place the valerian root inside. Put the pot on the stove on medium-low heat and bring to a gentle boil.(10 minutes)
  2. As soon as it starts to boil, lower the heat and leave it simmering sfor half an hour, or until the water has reduced to a third or half of its original volume.(30 minutes)
  3. Strain and enjoy it on its own or sweetened with honey!

Drink about a cup of this valerian tea before bedtime for optimal results.
