Lemon and Ginger Syrup for Colds and Coughs

Ingredients

  • 6 lemon (juice, squeezed)
  • 1 ginger (root)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Directions

Ginger is highly regarded as a medicinal herb, and it is used to treat a variety of ailments, including stomach cramps, nausea, and colds. In this warming and tasty syrup, the decongestant properties of ginger are paired with zesty lemon to boost immune system activity and soothe colds and flu.

  1. Grate the ginger root into a saucepan. Add the lemon juice and only as much honey as it takes to cover the grated ginger.(5 minutes)
  2. Simmer over low heat until ginger has become soft and the honey tastes of ginger.(15 minutes)
  3. Remove saucepan from heat, and allow it to cool before pouring syrup into smaller glass jars for easy storage.(10 minutes)

Consume one tablespoon as needed for cold and flu. The syrup can also be used to ease stomach cramps and menstrual cramps. When refrigerated, it can last for several weeks.
