Abstract

About the Book:

Principles of Terrestrial Ecosystem Ecology is concerned with detailing the natural and fragile ecosystems that make up our planet, describing the life-cycles and natural flow of many living things, including water, plants, nutrients, and animals. In order to understand the role that our species has had on modifying the Earth until it has become what we know today, the author examines modern ecology and integrates all areas of this field to provide a comprehensive picture of how everything in the ecosystem is intricately connected.

About the Author:

F. Stuart Chapin III is a former Professor of Ecology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and uses his knowledge of ecosystems to research how human actions affect them. His work focuses particularly on climate change in Alaska and its effect on indigenous communities, and he uses this research to inform his work in developing climate-change adaptation plans.
