It contains research, hypotheses, and reviews, as well as letters to the editor. The journal is a member of the Neuroscience Peer Review Consortium, and it is indexed in over 20 databases, including PubMed and EBSCO. It publishes 20 times a year, and its impact factor is 3.612, according to the 2013 Journal Citation Reports.
