Mild Thyme Syrup for Cough Prevention

  • 1 teaspoon of peppermint (Leaves)
  • 2/3 cups of honey
  • 1/2 cup of thyme (Fresh leaves)

Directions

The antibacterial properties of thyme render it an ideal ally for preventing coughs and colds. Try this mild and tasty thyme syrup to keep your immune system activity boosted during the winter months.

  1. Fill a cup halfway with the fresh peppermint and thyme.
  2. Warm the honey over a gentle heat, then pour it over the herbs. Let the mixture heating under very low heat.(5 minutes)
  3. Place the cup near a sunlit window and leave to steep for two weeks. When the syrup smells strongly of thyme, it is ready to consume. Straining the syrup is optional but recommended for a smoother texture.

Consume this syrup by the teaspoon, either by itself or stirred into a hot drink, on a daily basis in order to boost  immune system activity and prevent coughs. The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for several months.
